B. Information for Applying for New Connection

  1. Electricity supply will be provided according to the Electricity Act, Rules, and Regulations effective at the time of supply.

  2. Payment for the supplied electricity and related services must be made within the specified time. If payment is not made on time, the supply will be disconnected. To reconnect, the customer must clear all outstanding payments including reconnection fees.

  3. The customer must pay the service charge based on the estimated cost of the connection. If the authority installs the service line, any damage caused at the customer's premises must be repaired by the customer. The authority reserves the right to use the service line to supply electricity to other customers.

  4. The meter will be provided by the authority, and the authority may charge an appropriate meter fee.

  5. The authority retains the right to maintain, repair, and control the service line, cut-out, and meter. Customers are not allowed to remove or tamper with these.

  6. The authority will designate the location for the service line entry, cut-out, and meter installation, while trying to consider the customer's preferences as much as possible.

  7. The customer is responsible for the security of all authority-installed equipment within their premises. If any equipment is lost, damaged, or broken, the customer must bear the cost of repair or replacement.

  8. The wiring and materials installed in the customer's house must meet the authority’s standards. Electricity will not be supplied until the authority is satisfied after inspection that the wiring will not interfere with other customers’ supply. No fees will be charged for the first inspection; if re-inspection is needed, fees may apply. The contractor responsible for wiring must be present during the inspection.

  9. If any extension is needed from existing wiring, the customer must inform the authority beforehand. No extensions are allowed without the authority’s approval after inspection.

  10. Wiring inspection will be conducted only by the authority as the distributor. The authority is not responsible for any damage or injury to the customer due to wiring defects.

  11. No customer shall use electricity in a way that disrupts the supply to others.

  12. Customers must strive to keep their power factor as close to unity as possible. If the power factor falls below 0.8, the authority reserves the right to disconnect or refuse supply.

  13. Unauthorized use of electricity such as illegal connection to the main line, tampering with the meter to record less consumption, or any fraudulent activity is prohibited. If found, the authority will disconnect the line immediately and charge the customer for estimated consumption over one year plus penalties before reconnection.

  14. Customers must not damage the authority’s seals or property.

  15. Although every effort will be made to provide uninterrupted electricity supply, the authority is not liable for damages due to supply disruptions.

  16. Authority personnel may enter the customer’s premises with proper identification to inspect wiring and meters. Failure to allow inspection after three consecutive attempts may result in disconnection.

  17. Applicants must submit the required documents before taking electricity lines. Payment responsibility lies with the property owner; tenants have no special rights with the authority regarding payment.

  18. Supply will be provided only in the name of the legal owner of the house/land.

  19. Industrial and commercial supplies may be given under the guarantee of the owner or institution owning the house/land.

  20. More than one supply will be given to a single house/compound only if there is valid justification.

  21. When purchasing a house, ensure that all electricity bills are cleared up to the date of purchase.

  22. If the connection needs to be canceled due to no power requirement, all outstanding bills up to the cancellation month must be cleared and a written cancellation application must be submitted. Until such application is received, minimum charges will apply.
