Along with this transfer (name change) application, the annual card showing payment of charges and the latest bill confirming payment of dues must be submitted.

If an application claiming rights by other parties is registered for the purpose of transfer, the transfer shall not be carried out until a decision is made on such claim.

All outstanding charges up to the previous month must be fully settled.

If both parties are present at the office for the transfer, the transfer shall be carried out after verification of signatures in the records. However, if only one party is present, the transfer shall be carried out only after publishing a notice regarding claim of rights in a national-level newspaper for a period of 35 days and no complaint is received within that period.

The person/organization to whom the transfer is to be made must mandatorily submit certified copies of the following documents along with the application form:

(a) Citizenship certificate of the applicant.

(b) Consent of the previous customer, or if it is not possible to submit such consent, proof of entitlement to the concerned electricity line.

(c) Land ownership certificate of the house/land of the person/organization to whom the transfer is to be made.

(d) In the case of an industry/business, a certificate issued by the authority that originally granted the license, confirming the transfer of name from the previous name to the current name.

(e) Death registration certificate and relationship verification document (if the transfer is to be made due to death).
